“The Giant of Provence”

The giant of Provence perhaps provides one of the great one day cycling challenges.

Summiting at 1912m Mont-Ventoux may not be the highest climb in Europe but it certainly rates as one of the toughest.

There are 3 options for the ascent

Bédoin, Malaucène and Sault

You'll begin with a transfer from Montpellier Airport to the first nights hotel. Here you will be fully briefed on what to expect on the days ahead, assemble your bikes and prepare for the morning.

Montpellier to

This is the first of two days where you will be able to just warm up and enjoy the wonderful rolling roads and countryside as you head for the town of Avignon and it’s famous bridge. In the evening you will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy the old town.

Montpellier to Avignon

This will be a relatively short day as you save your legs for the following day and the assault on the Giant of Provence. The challenge is to complete all three ascents in the one day.

DAY 3&4

Club Des Cinglés

3 different routes

137km Ride

4400m Ascent

Today is again a gentle ride to what will be your base for the weekend. Your accommodation, complete with pool and hot tub is situated just outside Bédoin and perfectly placed for the assault on Ventoux. You will have the opportunity to attempt to join that elite club of cyclists that have completed all three routes on the one day.

The day will be fully supported so all you have to do is concentrate on riding.

Your Choice

Perhaps after the previous days exertions you will just want an easy spin and some time by the pool. On the other hand you may still feel fresh and wish to explore the surrounding countryside.

Bédoin to

the Camargue

150km Ride

We set off after breakfast for the easy 150km ride down to the coast passing through the beautiful and famous Camargue. Tonight we will stay on the Mediterranean coast with the opportunity of a swim in the sea the following day before packing up and preparing for the return home.
